I was going through some nickel rolls and found a 2009 S nickel proof and a 1937 Buffalo nickel. I'm just curious what people think about these finds.
i will sometimes find old, beat up buffalo nickels in bank bags. i think i've probably wrapped up around $2500 worth of nickels in the last 9 months that i've been running the coin wrapper, and i've found about half a dozen buffalos (buffaloes?) in that time. as for the proof nickel, i haven't found any of those yet. only pulled proof dimes and halves out of circulation. i'd say it can't hurt to keep them. unless they're in really good condition, they probably aren't worth much over face, but they're good finds for circulation pulls. also, welcome to cointalk! :welcome:
Rare finds, but not rare coins. I pulled a proof Kennedy from a roll a while back. Keep looking and good luck!
I find 2-3 Buffaloes a week, but I search about $700-$1000 weekly. I have found a few more recent date proofs, but they stick out like a sore thumb and people keep them if they see them. My best find so far was the other day, an 1894 Liberty nickel: I found this waiting on the end of a bank wrapped roll last week: Turned out to be a 1936.
