The container of cents from my 2009 proof set have an interesting look to them. I can only describe it as sunburst perhaps. the center of the cents are shiny red, and as you move to the rim, the tone changes to a metallic look. Any opinions would be awesome!
Yep, toning. The mint even held up sales for awhile, stating there was a toning "problem". Not a problem for me, I like nice toning on cents. Yet, the TPG'ers grade them as Red/Brown, which sells for less than Red. I don't know, will collectors ever consider the R/B's as nicely toned and pay a premium, like they do now for silver coins?
