I played around with the placement of "In God We Trust" on the reverse of the dollar coin. The CCAC rejected the placement of the words on the obverse for continuity reasons.

The US Mint can place the words at it's discretion apparently. So, we'll see how close these designs I made come to the actual approved design. Which is your favorite?

How about designing in the background an eagle in flight with a ribbon in its mouth with the words "In God We Trust"?

Kind of like the third one if they have to go that way.

Does this have anything to do with the rumor that they may be considering doing away with the lettered edge? If so, have ideas about where th put "E Pluribus Unum" and the date and mintmark too?

Ah, OK. In that case I agree with them that the reverse is a better place than the obverse.

Again of these four I think the thrid from the top looks best, actually seems to incorporate the motto into the design instead of looking like it's an afterthought as the other 3 seem to, to me anyway.

Here is a fifth option with the lettering all around the rim. I didn't change the United States Of America positioning. But, I imagine the same font and size to be used for uniformity.

The Statue is smaller in size as well.

    i like # 3 because 1 & 2 are just in ackward spots
    4 is kinda wierd
and 5 is making liberty smaller which is not good in my mind

I think #5 makes it too prominent

#5 also has the effect of moving Liberty to the background versus the current design where Liberty pops more. JMO

    it's fanstastic

i wish the mint will issue a lot of varieties. all photos shown were nice and beautiful. why not issue all of them for each president?. in this way. mintage will be lower.

I think my favorite of the designs is the third one as well. It would probably be the easiest for the Mint to incorporate as it involves no adjusting of the other elements of the design. It is also the one that seems to flow the most as was mentioned earlier. With every other one, I had to move either the denomination or incust on the statue, or decrease the size of the statue, etc.

Does anyone else have any ideas? I may try to render them if it isn't too difficult. Keep in mind that nothing else will change on the reverse. At most elements will be moved.

I like all of them. Any one will do. Now if they could put the date and mintmark back on the face of the coin it would not look like a chuck e. cheese token.

Lol... but Chuck E. Cheese tokens do have their date and mintmark on their face (well OK, not all varieties have a mintmark).

Seriously though the obverse already has the name of the president and the dates he served. I think adding the date to that would make it look too cluttered.

Howabout using "God Our Trust" like it was proposed back in the 1860's??

I like the third the most as well. If they went any of the first three, I think I'd be ok with. So, when they come to me for approvals, I'll let 'em know! ;-)

I like the last one. Looks great! Either way it should be on there!

Great artwork--I can barely take a picture of a coin, much less do what you've done. My vote is for #3
