I just saw this on the mint website --------------------------------- In addition, the Secretary of the Treasury has the authority to mint and issue numismatic one-cent coins in 2009 with the exact metallic content as contained in the 1909 one-cent coin (95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc). These numismatic versions will be included in the United States Mint’s annual product offerings. --------------------------------- So let's count this up... on the Mint Set.... 4 P, 4 D cents, with 95% Zinc/5% Copper (possible Steel/Copper if the law is passed) 4 S? 95% Copper, 5% Zinc cents 1 P 1 D Nickel 1 P 1 D Dime 6 P 6 D DC And Territorial quarters 1 P 1 D Half Dollar 4 P 4 D Presidential Dollar 1 P 1 D Native American Reverse, Sac Dollar. The proof set will be bigger two, 8 cents, 1 Nickel, 1 Dime, 6 Quarters, 1 Half, 6 Dollars! My guess is that the old composition cents will be made at the S mint, just like the Silver Ikes were. And if they midyear switch from Zinc/Copper to Steel/Copper....... My head hurts.... Good Grief!
It would be great to also have a "FULL" set of 09's including the regular circulation varieties which could make for an enormous collection all by itself.
I'm looking foreword to the 2009 mint sets and proof set they'll be producing. The more the merrier. I usually get 2 proof sets and 2 unc. mint sets, 2 ASE Inc & proofs and a silver proof set. With the Lincolns and the Sac $ changing, it should be an interesting year. Bruce
