My son just purchased a roll of pennies. One of the end coins has what seems to be a obvious mint error. My question is,if it is a mint error,i would like to get a better look at it,and not knowing much about collecting, will it make any difference as far as collector value(if it even has any collector value)if he opens the roll? Thank you for any help, Keith and Hunter
I am attempting to post a picture, but have forgotten how to do so.I am not able to get a very good picture,i can show some of what i am talking about,if i can get it posted Its not working, could someone remind me how to post a picture. Thanks for any help
I hate to break it to you but that is not a mint error. That's post mint damage caused by the machine that rolls the coins. It happens long after the cents leave the mint. No extra value there ..sadly. I'm sure others will chime in eventually.
No sad news here,my son is 13 and likes coins, his mother stopped by the bank today and he had 50 cents left over from his lunch, and he bought a roll and we were just curious. Thanks
It sounds like your son is a born collector. I also spend my last dime on coins. Encourage him, it is a great hobby, and if he, or you, ever have any questions, you will always find someone at CT who is willing to help.
Hey, call it the NEW SHOOTING STAR ERROR on ebay and you might get a sucker to pay $3.50 for it. evil laugh....
When he brought it home he said that we could call it ''The Rainbow over the Cabin'' He gets all of his homework up at school, and believe it or not,CT is the first place he comes to when he gets home.We don't ask many ?'s,however,we do receive a lot of information. Thanks guys,God bless
