My first question is regarding the anomaly under Lincolns chin on obverse... What is this? Second question is regarding the oversized lettering in united and states on the reverse. Is this an error or some type of DD. Thank you in advance for any feedback!
Thanks, now I wish I could help. I mostly hit the error section to learn myself, I am sure the error guys will be along.
Yes. That's one of the 2009 Formative Years Lincoln Cents. You can see on the OP's coin Lincoln sitting on a log with book in hand.. Same as my overlay.
I guess I have to get a new prescription for my glasses because I see(?) no die clash. Could you help me out and point out what I do not see?
Sure, some of the lettering on the reverse looked a little flattened. I did see what I thought might be a clash by Lincoln's chin but didn't have the confidence in my limited error skills to say so.
It is quite uncommon for a zinc cent to clash. Even the shield cent has very few known. The rest of the coins surfaces show that this isn't a plating issue. Can you take a better photo don't of the center reverse? Don't use the zoom function stabibize the camera and get as close as you can to have a clear shot. I would imagine there is more evidence.
