I'm a novice coin collector. Just wondering if you think that buying a 2009 P D U.S. Mint Set would be worth it now. Or should I wait awhile, because prices would drop?

As I understand it, the 2009 P an D mint sets contain the 2009 P and D Lincoln pennies made of copper - these can't be found in circulation. So will that make the set valuable?

The Clad and Silver Proof sets are available at the US Mint but the 2009 Uncirculated Set has not been issued yet.

I think that, given the popularity of the Lincoln Cents, these sets will be sought after and secondary market prices will be higher than mint issue prices. It's a crap shoot though....:D

There on hold for now the 90% copper is toning before thy can package them.and that why there not out yet

After there released will they go up sure for awhile.
but after the hype is gone they will drop like a rock. LP-1 & LP-2 have for sure!

i think 2008 mint set is the winner. 2009 will be modest only.

Welcome and HI ' kgj. I think buying the 2009 Uncirculated P & D set/s is a good idea. The main reason is this set is a one-of-a-kind for Lincoln cents. The price will look more reasonable in the next two or more years. I'm subscribed for my set to ensure I won't miss out. If you want first day issue you'll have to call that day and keep your date of purchase/s. Good luck, enjoy. ---- zeke
