    Hello all,

I just ordered a complete set of uncirculated bankrolls of the Lincolns minted last year. 8 rolls total. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as a beginner something told me that since they were only minted for one year, they will be pretty valuable for my kids-kids-kids. What's the best way to keep them for the long haul? I assume I should keep them in the bank rolls. Should they be wrapped in plastic too, or put in a tube? Should I unwrap them in case there are any with errors?

I also want to start going through rolls of pennies on my down-time at work. What should I be looking for, besides the wheaties?

I'm also pretty excited for the shield cents to come out!

    Thanks in advance!

    Jeremy

Jeremy, dear fellow, these issues will never be valuable (investment wise). The mint has produced gazillions.......

  4. Nice gesture on your part for the kids. No one knows for sure what the future market for these will be, but as if often the case Green is probably correct here though. If you want to know what cents to keep check out the US Coin Forum thread titled: Pennies (Cents) - Master Thread (What to Keep?). TC

These rolls probably will never be worth much but

These rolls probably will never be worth much but if your planning on putting them away for the future do this:
If not in special designated rolls such as from the US mint or First Day ceromony - in other words if they are not marked in any special way (which they most likely are not), dump them out and put in new clear coin tubes made for storing 50 each - this is the best way to keep them.
As for looking at other things in U.S. cents first buy a Cherry Pickers Guild and study - that's my best advice!

I think they're worth hanging onto for the kids or grandkids. I have 2 bank wrapped rolls of the steel Lincoln cents my grandparents gave me. Even though they look like they were minted yesterday they're not worth much, but I still think it's a neat thing to have, and the fact that they came from my grandparents makes them priceless to me. I think your kids will be happy you saved them for them even if they aren't worth any premium monetarily.

The Two Roll sets from the Mint MAY be of Value if they stay in the Box and are passed down a while..
I have several Boxes of the LP2 LP3.. AND WANT TO SELL...
The Local Store is offering 6.00 a Box.. Sadly.. I wanted 15.00..
So I guess Value is in the Eye of the Buyer.. And I still have them..

I think there will be a premium for these, but it will be very small. They have been hoarded so there will be a lot of them in mint state. However, it is the most popular coins for collectors and they were only made this year, so the fact that you have them is great. Pass them down, you'll be glad you kept them.
