    Hi Community, the Hound here.

This Kennedy Half-Dollar has a circular mark around the perimeter of the coin, just inside the circumference. As you can see in the pictures, the mark stops between the letters to LIBERTY, but runs through the date and the T at the end of "trust".

Could this be a repunch, or was something stacked on it? If the latter, what could it have been?

Also, my research shows that this coin should have been released as part of a collectors set, as they were not circulated to the general public.

    Thanks,
    CurrencyHound

No that came from a coin rolling machine very common.

They were ALSO sold in rolls and bags to collectors directly from the Mint. Yours is from a roll.

Experience tells all! Good to learn about the marks, as well as the origins.

Thank you for your input, Gentlemen. Happy Hunting!

I still can't see what they thought they were doing with that relief in those years. Yuck! The ones since 2015 are nicer. Deeper relief, like the 2014 two-coin set.
