Well why did any of them sell out? Nothing special about the coins, and IMO all of them are ugly and not that collectible.
People are dumb, and will pay premiums for things that sell out, I made a profit on my John Tyler Denver Roll, sold it for $57 on ebay, simply because it was "no longer available at the mint"
And the harrison rolls, ridiculous, selling for $150 a pop!
The tyler and harrison rolls had the same population of rolls 30,000, and have the lowest mintage of the series thus far, but no telling what will come next, we could see super high mintages for the polk dollars, who knows?

Worth owning? Not in my opinion.

I have 4 mint wrapped Harrison rolls ... should I sell them?

I looked on Ebay and they seem to be going for around 30-40$. a roll... unless I am missing something (which is likely lol)

It is all in the paper! If it has bank paper, a small premium. If it has mint paper, though the coins are the same, Huge premium (for the Harrison rolls).

And I bought a album and will collect these out of circulation/bank rolls paid for at face value. I think it is a very cool way to learn about our presidents. I like them.

I have one roll for the Tyler P's from the mint and on backorder for the Tyler D's from the mint. I hope that I get the D rolls. My fingers are crossed. I think that 2009 will be a good investment for coins. It can't be any worse than the 0% I-bonds that I have from the treasury.

Aren't the I bonds intrest on temporary hold? Intrest will return in a few months?

No? I bought 3 mint rolls of Tyler, sold them on ebay and after fees and postage, cleared about 45 bucks.

Not saying others will perform that well. but it was an investment for me.

Investment (at least the way I see it) is when you put something away for the long term and hope that it will increase in value. Tyler rolls might be good to turn a quick buck or two but down the road they probably will be only worth face value. Do I own a couple of Tyler rolls? Indeed I do. Do I expect to make any money from them if I cash them in down the road? I'll probably only get face....:smile

It was a speculation that paid off. As Green18 said investments are something you buy and hold for the long term. I think if the Tyler rolls were held long term (investment) they would turn out to be a poor one. As a short term speculation/flip they did well not because they were worth it but because people are dumb.

I agree. Flipping is not an investment but speculation. I stand corrected.

If you hold onto the Tyler Rolls for more than 1 week, they start to lose value. Imagine what it will be like in 10 years... Probably lose money on them, they are just so common, and I doubt demand would be that high.

tyler and harrison should be around the same price in the future. harrison will go down or tyler going up. i think the first one will be right answer.
