Has anyone seen this auction on EBAY? I searched through one roll of mine and found 7 of these... Do you think they are worth trying to sell on ebay? Is this the next Wisconsin Corn stalk error? Ebay item # 300315392055
It looks like nothing more than a tiny die chip. Not really an error. The same thing happened with the Alaska quarter when people started finding extra claws. There was a short time when they were selling for a very small premium, but then people realized they were as common as dirt. I notice on the Ebay auction listed, nobody has taken the bait yet, which is good. Guy~
Doesnt look like any error to me anyways, just something going on with the casting die that struck the coin. As a side note... Im noticing a lot of the mint rolls that have already been sold for LP2 seem to be topping out around $45-46 which is quite a bit less, one person had a buy it now for $24.95 I think for a p/d mint set- thats pretty low compared to what some of the first ones were going for. I think once the mint sells out that price will likely double, at least, on ebay. Dont know why people dont just buy directly from the mint...
Well, look at this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/2009-FORMATIVE-...ryZ31373QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That looks like a definite double die, look at the United States and One Cent especially. Im wondering if we have our next big DD error here. Also what would the difference be between a die chip and true double die? This looks like a true double die to me.
Ouch - all I see is blury pictures. I personally would not bid on it or buy it. I won't say definite unless I had the coin in hand and then a second opinion from someone else. Just my opinion.
Sorry guys, I meant to post this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/2009-FORMATIVE-...ryZ31373QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I posted the wrong one. This is the one that looks real. The other one was terrible, and doesnt look as good as this one above on the doubling.
Okay, Im not sure whats going on, I clicked on the link in my post previously on that ebay auction and it took me to the same one I just posted. That is the coin Im talking about- or you can search on ebay for Formative Doubled- it will come up. Something is definitely up with the lettering on the coin. I dont really think its a die chip because its affecting a lot of the lettering on the coin. I dont see the doubling on the right leg so much as the guy claims.
Check out ebay item # 180364100341 -- guy says he has a full roll of them. buy it now price of only $1700
Would machine doubling be the same on coin after coin? It seems like the error would have to be on the die to cause identical errors.
Is it the same gay that ask's for $100's of thousands of dollars for his coins that he sells on ebay? And if you low ball your bid he'll put you on his blocked bidders list? LOL. That is a crazy price, but I guess if they are true DD's and somewhat rare at least they might be worth $500 a roll, who knows at this point. Gonna have to be more research and publishing done on the potential errors for LP2, I dont recall any double dies on LP1 (at least what I would consider true double dies).
well I bit the bullet and picked one of the coins up from the auction posted... we'll know as soon as i get it what it is, I'll take some good pics and post them
