I'm, unfortunately, not seeing anything noteworthy, Nolan... perhaps you could clarify?

The web between the thumb and base of the index finger.

Have you checked Wexler's site for a match? I'm not as familiar with the D's as I am with the P's. (doubled die)

I have and Variety Vista, here is another shot of the hand, also note the end of the thumb. Thanks for looking. 2009A.jpg

Looks like it took a hit by your enlarged photo. Notice the metal has been shoved up into the crook under the thumb. Can't tell much with the end of the thumb.

I did a lot with these when new and hot, and can say that I wouldn't place too much weight into the webbing, which for whatever reason, seems to sometimes vary from coin to coin iirc.

As for the thumb, I have to agree with Tommy on the one. Remember, this is from the single squeeze era and means that doubling isn't necessarily going to be as one expect with a "classic" doubled die.

Thanks for the insights, I will watch for the more prominent doubles.

A good strike in this area will be a nice, clean, defined separation of thumb and first finger. The WDDR-031 shows a type of web if you will but looks nothing like a doubled die. I don't really know how Wexler came to this conclusion as it looks more like a soft strike w/o separation of these fingers.

Thanks for the input, I have one of these with the obvious extra finger, I just found the webbing eye catching.
