I thought it was a clipped planchet. You should only hold coins by the edge. You'll leave fingerprints on the coin that turn dark over time which would become a distraction to collectors. I don't know much about toning values. If you like it, that's all that really matters. Some people pay a little extra for colorful toning. Some pay a lot. Depends on the coin, you might have something worth a buck there? Maybe less? Your kitty there is priceless in your avatar!
Please take care of your coins and never touch them other than by the edge. Wear cotton gloves just to be safe. So many coins ruined by fingerprints and oils from fingers or hands.

About the only thing to look for on this year, is the double thumb, but I see no indications of it on your coin. Just a cent.
