As a newbie this is driving me crazy. I wish to learn the differece, and i feel like im getting close... I see raised doubling with clear notches and obvious breaks and ends in it. This doubling doesnt move or disappear depending on the angle i take the picture at, but i also see evidence of machine doubling that circles the features of the coin as i rotate the coin in the scope. And does disappear depending on the angle. I must be loosing my mind...
No - under a scope sometimes the light makes things that aren't there - if you turn the coin and don't see the anomaly anymore than it aint there in the first place. I do alot of coin roll searching with a scope that shows possible doubling BUT then take that coin and see if I can see the same thing with my 20X loupe - Most times I cant!
this one I noticed with my naked eye and set aside for further investigation when I got home. Came from change at the Burger King. The lines on top of the 2 and first 0 in the date don't move depending on the angle, which is why I posted two angles of the date. The coin is lighter in color around the features that show doubling as you can see around the date in the 2nd picture of the date. But yeah, i could tell right away there was something up with this beauty. I need a better scope, just cant afford one right now, the led's on this thing have 2 settings: 1. on (will melt your retinas bright) 2. off makes for awful pictures
Heres the doubling on the reverse. Im sure the reverse is hub, but im tired of sifting through varieties for the night. My question is about the obverse, is it hub?
We cannot always see what you are. Have you checked out www.doubleddie.com, John Wexler's site? It is updated on a regular basis but there are plenty of photos and die markers listed to show you the various doubled dies from this series, along with any other doubled die coins you might think you have. It's always possible you may have an as yet unknown variety also. But this site has a wealth of info for you to check out. It is well organized. It might help until you are able to shoot better photos.
Thank you for that, it's what I needed to hear. Ive looked at wexlers 2009 obv doubled dies and countless Google sites but wexler seems to be the only one with obv errors listed since this year has so many darn DDR varietys. I'll work on better shots. Thanks guys!!!
