Got my proof sets last week and just got through checking them out. Most are OK, but one set of presidential dollars has small concentric circles in the fields. Looks almost like they were minted out of a phonograph record. Pierce and Fillmore are the worst and Lincoln hs very little of this. Did my best to take photos, but could only catch a section. It covers the entire field on the obverse. Nothing like this on the reverse. I think it is bad planchets. What do you think? It really shows up much more clearly in hand. The pics are the best I could manage. Lateral scratches are on plastic.
It's the packaging and nothing more. Remove the coin and the circles are still visible on the packaging. Check over here = = = > http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=763694
