2009 Polk Dollar Error?? Any Value

I was at the store yesterday and got two Polk dollars back in change. When I got home I looked at them and saw the edge lettering was opposite of each other. I was just wondering if this was common or an error and if so the relative value. Thanks Just noticed an extra piece of metal in the U as pictured and some light doubling of the letters

No error. These are dumped by the binful into the hopper for the edge lettering machine. The chances of either alignment are equal.

Relatively common and not considered an error at all. It's referred to as 'position A' and 'position B'.....(don't ask me which is which).....the process of minting the dollars is two fold. The dollar planchets are fed into the edge lettering machine first and (when that process is done) then fed into the coin presses with no regard to the orientation of the edge lettering.

Maybe so, but you gave more info than I did, so still a useful post. Thanks.
