Looks like 3 die cracks. 2 on obverse and 1 on reverse. The point on the front of the neck and on the letter A on the end of America on the obverse. In the cactus leaves on the bottom right on the reverse. What do you guys think?
Yes, they are die cracks, but they don't add to the value of the coin. You might also notice the unusual texture of the field between the back of Washington's head and the rim. This is the result of die erosion. It doesn't add any value to the coin, either. I just thought you'd like to know. Chris
Nice find Sheila. Some here like these and some do not. I find them interesting and collectible and sellable. Kids find them very interesting also, especially as a teaching tool for studying the effects of die deterioration. I have been frowned upon here for selling them but as the saying goes..."One persons junk is another treasure". It's a very inexpensive way to collect coins in general and some die cracks can be quite bold and pretty. If these had been found on 18th and 19th century coins, you would get quite a different reaction to them but many do not believe modern coins like this have any value. Collect what you like and have fun.
