2008 nickel looks Orange ish brown. Error ? Any errors like this. Nice coin.

It looks like it has been subjected to the elements........environmental damage.

I agree. That was most likely underground for some time. I metal detect and have dug out dozens of examples like your Nickel.
Dirt, sand and soil do this
