Morning people; I was complaining in another thread about having a subscription to various mint products and not receiving them till weeks after the release date. The question in that thread was whether or not the big guy (large investor) got preferential treatment over us regular folks and I think that the general consensus was that they did. My particular beef was that my mint sets had been backordered to the middle of August. To my suprise they arrived yesterday and upon opening them I found them to be in rather satisfactory condition. So, my friends at coin talk, I will pose the questions: Did you get your sets yet? How do they compare to last years sets? Did you order by subscription or just manualy order on site? How quickly did they arrive as opposed to the date that the mint stated that they would be shipped out?
Got the automated email that my mint set should be shipping, but it hasn't shown up yet. Grrr...... Smaugy.......
I havent got my Mint sets yet although the Mint says they've been shipped so they should be here soon.
Joe, I'm pretty sure you're on subscription with the mint. Indian, how about you. Subscription or regular order? Just trying to get a feel for the difference, if any, in shipping times regarding the two options.
I'm on subscription also and it always seems that dealers in various coin publications always have Mint products for sale way before I ever get mine, that irritates me.
PO's me too Indian however I suspect that sometimes they don't have the sets yet and are just advertising them. I'll do that too with other mint products....pad your order and take advantage of the low shipping.
You also have to consider that they probably have multiple orders in at the mint. By having multiple orders in they increase the chance that some of them will get the early shipment. (not all of their eggs in one basket) plus as soon as the mint starts shipping they have buyers out at shows buying sets from dealers and collectors who did get early shipments and want to flip them to pay for the set they are keeping.. This gives them sets basically as soon as they become available. And you are right, in some cases the ad runs and they don't actually have the sets on hand.
I have a subscription for 2 sets which arrived on Sat. the 9th. The coins look pretty good to me. I'm satisfied. Bruce
I got my 2008 uncirculated mint set last week, i think on friday (8-8-2008). I saw 2008 mint & proof sets up way before this however and i have an active subscription for both (in addition to other us mint products) AND the dealers on e-bay ALWAYS have them in WAY before I get mine. :headbang:
General consensus here seems to be that were're all getting our sets in a timely fashion and that the condition of the sets is satifactory.
Wait 'till next year. Eight pennies, twelve quarters and ten dollars. I remember that in 1982, there were no mint sets sold at all because there were only eight coins in total.
