Not a re-issue,but they are rationing out the Monster boxes to dealers because of a supply and demand problem, the company that supplies the blanks to the US Mint and I believe the Royal Canadian Mint cannot meet the current demand........

I think this was a rumor that was started on the internet or some other coin chat rooms. In the last issue of Coin World, they had an article clarifying some of the mis-information that is out there.

How it got started was that the mint announced that they were suspending making and selling the proof versions of the ASE and that the planchets used for the production of the proof coins would be used to produced new bullion ASEs to meet demand. This got people thinking that there was going to be a forth version of the ASE released similar to the 1965, 1966, & 1967 SMS Issued Kennedy's. Basically, a proof like coin which was considered an uncirculated or bullion ASE. The representative from the mint clarified that although the same silver planchet is used for all the ASEs, each version goes through a specific process that creates each version of the coin.

The mint also clarified that since its release of the 2006 West Point Uncirculated ASE, they hve been calling the ASE with the W mintmark "uncirculated" and the one without "bullion".
