2008 Alaska quarter value

    hello I’m new here I been trying to find information with no luck can any one tell me what this quarter value may be and if it’s gold or not.also is ther such thug as a close am ri? And the rim is thin on one side and thick on the other same with the gold in the rim

    Welcome to Coin Talk. The composition of this quarter is an outer layer of copper-nickel (.750 copper .250nickel) bonded to a core of pure copper. The gold in the rim is copper (not gold) and the gold plating was done by a private company after it left the mint. Usually the Silver American Eagles are colorized but they add no extra value to the coin. Your coin is a common date and not worth much more than face value. Not sure what you mean by a close am ri. Possibly you can post a photo of the area in question.

    The rim, the rim is thin on one side and thick on the other making it look lopsided

    Just a minor misaligned die strike.
    It is only worth 25 Cents.
