I was on the Quarter Designs website, and I found this early design entry for the Washington state quarter. I think this is 10% more original than the design chosen, and with a little refining, I think it could have been one of the best state quarters. It features an orca, and what looks like a trout as the seeds of the apple, and the Seattle space needle as the core. Also, Washington is known for it's apples. Very nice looking design!
same here.. looks to be one of the cheesiest desgin considerations yet. Now, it is possible with an artistic rendering showing what the coin would actually look like once minted, it MIGHT look better... but its a big stretch
I honestly really like the Washington quarter design that was chosen. In fact, despite the Wyoming quarter, I think the 2007 series has been the nicest all around year of the whole series.
Well, it would obviously not be placed on the quarter like that. If an artist made his own rendering of the idea, I think it would be quite nice. The jumping fish motif has no originality. In fact, it's reminiscent of one of those oil paintings you see for sale at the mall, likely painted by a 6-year-old in a Chinese sweat shop. The apple idea features 4 things Washington is known for, and (if executed correctly by a skilled artisan, who would likely add shade and texture) is both simple and aesthetically pleasing.
Here too, I will have to disagree! The only thing missing is a spotted owl, environmentalists and a logger. :goofer:
