Does anyone know when the Unc. Silver Eagle sold out, or any info about it? I thought those were open-sale to demand until the end of the calendar year. I'm fairly certain they sold all year last year, they just didn't get much attention, hence the rarity.

Right now I'm guessing they were swarmed with orders because of people seeing what happened with the 06 Dubs, and while sold out, maybe they were also over-produced...

However...if that's the case, then they'd probably increase future production, possibly making the 2007 Unc the 2nd rarest (next to the first-year 2006) in a long future line of burnished blanks Eagles.

I bought 3 of the Unc's this year, thinking this year would suck because last year was great for them, and now I'm wondering if maybe I should scoop up a bunch.

    Any info or opinions?

558,810 2007-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles sold. Link.

Reportedly just under 500,000 last year, including all of the 20th Anniversary Sets.

2007-W American Silver Eagle Sold Out

The 2007-W American Silver Eagle is now sold out at the Mint. These are the Uncirculated Silver Eagles sold by the US Mint, which have been branded as a collectible version of the bullion coin. This version of the coin is struck on specially burnished blanks and carries the "W" mint mark. The sell out happened on Tuesday night.

Many are already predicting that prices for the coin will rise going into year end. The latest mintage statistics indicate 558,810 coins were sold. This compares to last year's final mintage figure of 496,200.

This was cut and pasted from http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/

As soon as I saw the news I went on ebay and found some reasonbly priced offerings and picked up quite a few hoping for a nice spike in price. Wish me luck.:smile

Hi, if your into label grades you might want to remember 2006 had the 20th anniversary eagles. The total NGC MS70 early releases(2006 W-1600), (2007 W-13000+ or minus a few). The 2007 W Early Release has been grading a MS70 in 1 out of every 4.9 coins(compared to 1 out of every 8.5 coins in 2006 W). I elected to purchase the standard issue 2007(no W) which is grading a MS70(1 in every 19-20 coins, 1 out of every 22 for ER). Theres no anniversary labels this year, so theres already 11000+ more 2007 W MS70 early releases than the 2006 W ER label option. I personally think the lack of the anniversary label option for 2007 W will pressure prices(even with comparable mintages). Just my opinion, and i'm a rookie!

I guess that will make the '07-w ms69's scarce then, right?

There already has been about 4.6 times more 2007 W NGC MS ER coins graded, than all of the 2006 W MS ER. Around 2.5 times more coins carried the NGC 20th anniversary MS label than carried the 2006 W ER label. The 2007 W should still be a rather low mintage coin(have'nt seen the official mintage numbers yet). It's just that it has one less label option than in 2006. There were 250,000 Anniversary MS coins, so that left 200,000 regular MS W coins. So now in 2007 i've heard around 550,000 MS W compared to 200,000 non-anniversary MS 2006W coins.

I guess it's just another variation on the hobby. Some like raw barber dimes, some like graded silver eagles. Hopefully theres room for everyone.

if thats how you collect, of course there is rom for you. But there are a lot of people who buy the slab for the grade, and never look at the coin. I just hope i dont see in the future people collecting a full set of 200X silver eagles all graded:
    1-ms65
    1-ms66
    1-ms67
    1-ms68
    1-ms69
    1-ms70

Looks like they are selling the W-mint mark Silver Eagle in an Uncirculated set from the mint of the 4 prez dollars, the Sac, and the Silver Eagle (cost $31.95). It looks like this was just released Dec. 3rd. I don't know if that means a finite amount have been produced, or whether they will continue selling these past Dec. 31st., but I'm guessing this means an increase over the 550k-ish mintage we've seen so far.

    2007 w ase

2007 w silver eagle could go over 800,000 mintage with that new product cost $31.95.

Sounds kind of familiar doesn't it. In 2006 the mint came out with the silver anniversary set which contained the 2006w as everyone knows. The mint later released the 2006w as a single which many people did not like. This year it look like they will release the 2007w first then maybe in a set later. This could be interesting.
