die issues--spend it, nice to look at, but not a lot of monetary value, other than 0.25 cents. Very common, IMO, good luck
Sometimes, a die break can begin below the surface of the die. As the sub-surface crack expands, it causes the die steel to expand upward ever so slightly which appears to be a small depression on the coin. Eventually, the deformity breaks away and becomes a die break. I had quite a few examples of CA SQ's with this anomaly, and they all came from UNC Mint bags. Out of all of them, I found only one example of the sub-surface crack forming (on a few coins) and eventually breaking away (on another coin). It left a huge blob of metal on the brim of John Muir's hat which I dubbed "Condor Doo-Doo". Chris
