a coin dealer is selling 2007 statehood five pieces quarter set at half price. offer $6.95 a set without box against u.s. mint offered $13.95. is this a good deal?. i heard most collector looking for coins only. so should we buy it?. another thing is that in the future. if we want to sell back to dealer without box. are they willing to buy them?. any comment on this?.
If you're planning on breaking up the set to get the individual quarters, it's a good deal. It will be hard to resell without the box. On the other hand, sometimes you can buy empty boxes from people who have broken up sets. Seems like a lot of work for a clad proof set.
bargain statehood quarter set i will buy some. as a matter of fact, i will add some more for x'mas gift.

Buy them, crack them out, put them in 2x2's and sell them that way. Or crack them out and make solid state rolls of proofs. Who is selling them, I'll buy 100 sets..is he on ebay?

Thanks so much for the contact info. Opening is easy ..closing ..not so much. I usually crack the corners and then slide an exact knife in the crack and wiggle it around the edges. The cases are usually ruined. Since I'm not in the habit of cherrypicking and resealing cases for resale. It's hasn't been a big deal to destroy the cases as I go. I suspect he that bought a thousand proof sets for the halves, nickels, dimes and cents to build his albums with and wants to unload these fast.
The shows I go to I can buy them for 250.00 if I wanted it. I guess some people will pay over 300.00 I think you should get a greysheet and look at real prices
grey sheet the grey sheet are for dealer to dealer transaction. are you a dealer?. then you are correct.
With a little care you should be able to work a fingernail or knife into the seam of the case and slide it around the edge to open them with no damage. The proof set cases 1999 and later are NOT sealed, just snapped together.
Elaine: A lot of items can be had at dealer prices if you know where to buy them. (i.e.- what dealer has what items) It takes a solid relationship with that dealer, but for most good customers, the dealers that I know will.
to conder101 i was able to crack and open one 2000 clad statehood quarter proof set without damaging the case. i wonder if year 2000 case is also can be open easily. why this is my first time to open one and it was very easy and successfully?. maybe i should try a current 2006 or 2007 case. to see if it is really sealed.
None of the proof set cases from 1999 to 2007 are sealed and all of them can be opened and closed without damage.
