To Aiden Since I got my info from the NBC news, you're probably right. Clinker btw...those Presidential coins that have the edge lettering at close upper edge and/or close lower edge are not errors: This alignment occurs from different positions of the collar die at striking.
Sorry, but I seriously doubt that the mint announced that news item. Sure, NBC may have reported it, but, possibly from 'unknown' sources within the mint. How could they know the exact number? and if they did, why not just correct the error, by putting it thru the ending press?
It could also be another Mint scam tryign to increase either the usage, the purchase of, or collecting of the Dolalrs. If the world knows there are 50, 000 mistakes, everyone will think this is a big money item, start buying tons of them, then realize that 50K isnt too rare, adn the actuall number is probable 1 mill. Now, i am not normally a conspiracy theorist, but it seems like a means of increasing the hype abotu the DeadPrez Coins. Personally, I want one each of PDS and then a bunch to spend and tick off random folk lol
