2007 P Utah Quarter Lamination...maybe

    See the pictures - in one I circled the section in question and the other is a close-up. Is this a lamination error? I also attached took a couple of close-ups - not sure the 60x helps. So what do you think?

    i have one but with that in a different area and was told it was a polished die

    I saw a couple on ebay but was not sure. I may have to visit the old coin store and let someone see it. If nothing else it looks like it came from the mint that way. At first I just thought it was banged really hard, but here lately I search all my change before it goes in the old change jars.

    mine is in a mint sealed airtite so i know it came like that

    I have seen several like this and it looks like it's struck thru light oil or grease.

    In a mint set? That might even be cooler. I will check mine again.

    Thanks - if nothing else it sounds like a novelty piece for me to hold on to. The first interesting thing I have found on a quarter yet. Thanks for the info everyone.

    Looks like grease got on the die, but I could be wrong. Have a few myself, they can be pretty neat sometimes.
