2007 John Adams dollar

    Dollar has an "M" between the "D" mint mark and the "E" of EPU.
    A lot of pictures, not sure how well they turned out.

    this is from the coins being bumped together . some folks think this may have occured during the ejection process after the coins were struck.

    These are always very curious in that the lettering on the edges of the Presidential Dollars are Incused yet the extra letters which sometimes appears is in relief.

    Yes, some believe that its caused from "bumping" into other coins however, that must have been quite a bump since taking a hammer to two of these coins stacked on edge does not produce the same effect.

    Maybe the coin is in a softened state? I suppose that is possible but still, the hammer experiment produces a flat spot so I really have no idea what causes this stuff.

    I'd also state that it's not really an "M" but an upside down "W" from "WE".
