Got my rolls from the mint today. Have to say that the Philadelphia ones seemed a lot better than the Denver ones; maybe it's just luck of the draw but the Denver ones seemed to have a lot more contact marks than the Philadelphia ones did. Anyway, picked the best one out of each roll, now have $19 worth of half dollars to spend, lol... will spread them out in circulation soon. Just love the reaction I get from people when I spend halves, many who have never seen one or know that the US still mints them (the fact that these will all be dated 2007 proves they still do!).
i knew they did, however, i thought what they minted never reached circulation.. i thought they only minted some to be sold as bags, rolls, and sets ... glad to see they are indeed in circulation again ...
Well you were right the first time; since 2002 all halves minted were only for sake of collectors (Some other years this was the case too; such as in 1969D, 1970D, 1987P&D, 2000P, and the 2001P). However I am forecfully putting 38 of these into circulation anyway, lol... I really only wanted the 2 for my collection (banks don't order any new ones anymore so ordering from the mint is only way I can get them); the rest are too marked up to be worth saving, so I'll just spend them at face value. I'm not the only one who does this apparently, because I have found some 2005's in circulation before. I've even found a couple of circulated proofs.
Always great to get a nice new half dollar. I have received only one half dollar in change in the past 10 years. Almost 20 years ago, I handed one out in change and the woman who received it did not know what the coin was, never had seen a Kennedy half OR who the portrait was on the obverse.
