Will the 2007 Buffalo fractional coins only be available from the Mint?

I think the mint will also be the only place to get the MS fractionals as well. They will also have the W mint mark. So if you collect the 1oz coins, there will be 3 one ounce coins to purchase (proof, MSW, bullion) if you want a 2007 complete set.

Coin World magazine (march, 5th) states that the mint will later on offer 2007-W buffalo gold coin in the 4 denominations in proof and Uncirculated versions. The uncirculated will be on the burnished blanks. Would think and hope they will be available directly from the mint.

    Hey Bama Guy...

I looked in that issue but did not find a clear statement on uncirc fractionals. Proof yes but not uncirc. Can you pinpoint the page for me??
Thanks in advance.....I am hearing conflicting stories from more than one source...

Rickyb look on the front page on the right hand colum, toward the bottom. It says ''The Mint will later offer the 2007-W american buffalo 1-ounce, half-ounce , quarter-ounce, and the tenth-ounce gold coin in Proof and Uncirculated versions."

That is what it says to me anyhow. I am getting on up there and lots stuff is not like it was but still hope i can read. lol.

Thanks everyone for the info. I was hoping that if they minted an uncirculated version, they would sell them to their distributors like the regular bullion coins. I have to admit that with the luck I have had lately with the Mint (and their pathetic customer service), I would prefer dealing with their distributors.

I may get a 1/10 fractional just because it is such a beautiful and iconic design.

I'd like to get at least a 1/10 too, possibly a 1/4 instead, depending on finances of course, and availability.

Thought it had been discussed in here before . Just can not trust my memory anymore. Think I have a touch of what they call old timers or a lot of senior citizen moments. It looks like eveyone beat the mint

Would love to order some little buffalo's but I am not sure yet. The people at work and the guy i talk to sometimes said that ordering from the mint causes me "unnecessary stress" and I should take a break. Right now I am looking at the 2007 proof silver set. Would like to get the storage box for the '99-'08 but not sure how they will work with the presidents being added. To many tuff decisions right now.

In all it would be nice to have the quarter-ounce buffalo. Kind of like a big gold nickel. Probably get someone to order one for me. :mouth:

Sorry to hear about your problems with the mint. I have the opposite view. I would rather order from the Mint than deal with my local dealers, most of whom just try to rip you off.

I agree with you I trust the Mint. Ordered the Washington dolls on Feb 15th had them in my hand on the 22nd along with some other items from the Mint. Knock on wood but have had excellent luck with them so far.

Andrew289 - yeah, i have been very unlucky with the Mint the last few purchases. Prior to this year, I would have responded the same as you. I guess what bothers me most is their customer service, mainly their inability to provide consistent information regarding orders and time it takes to ship orders. Now that I think about it, I am not too pleased with the overselling of their products either. I agree that some dealers try to overcharge which is common on the secondary market. I was referring to the authorized purchasers ND refers to above in his message. I have had good luck with California Numismatics Investments.

ND - thanks again for the info.
