Hello all, I'm just getting into collecting. Could anyone tell me how many 2006-W uncirculated $5 AGE that the mint produced. I know I saw it on a forum somewhere butI'm having trouble finding it. Thanks, Alan
Saw that post i believe in here. It was listed it as 9,631. could have been as high as 10.5K think maybe the mint had some little accounting mess up but not real sure . It should be around there somewhere. lol
mintage for 2006 w $5.00 gold unc mintages for am eagle unc $5.00 gold coins: 1986 --912,609 1987 --580,266 1988 --159,500 1989 --264,790 1990 --210,210 1991 --165,200 1992 --209,300 1993 --210,709 1994 --206,380 1995 --223,025 1996 --401,964 1997 --528,515 1998 1,344,520 1999 2,750,338 2000 --569,153 2001 --269,147 2002-- 230,027 2003 --245,029 2004 --250,016 2005 --300,043 2006 --225,000 2006w --12,717 (product is not available for single pc $5.00 gold.) remainding some within the set still available. but it should be very few. 2007w -- now available from some dealers. possible from now on, it will carrying the w mint mark. no mint mark is gone. both bullion and unc version with pouch and coa carried w mint mark. that's what i think......so the 2006 w unc gold series will be rare and special. the future will tell.....
from this point on untill they change it again, in the 1/10th oz AGE's there will be three to collect, the proof, the unc with the W mint mark, and the bullion version with out any mint mark. woo hoo.
I read an article in Coin World and I think it mentioned the mintages to date. The "W" minted uncirculated coins in gold and platinum are going to be the sleepers of 2006. A must have for any set and they are extremely low mintages. Spells big bucks!! I only bought 1 set for my AGE series collection and (APE 1/10 and 1/4 oz ) collections. RickieB
The high end of the mintage for the $5 may be around 15,500 coins. We should know shortly as the 4 coin sets just sold out.
I think the four coin sets may still be available. The caption under the listing on the Mint website says "available for shipping December 25th" not " No longer available". It shouldn't be much longer though. Get them quick!
I think if you try to order one it will say backordered, so I should have said backordered. But when that happened to the plats they were pretty much sold out the next day.
I just received my 1/2 1/4 and 1/10th oz "W" Uncirculated AGE's today. They are very nice coins to say the least. Having collected them for 21 years now these coins are a must have to complete the collection up to present date. From what I read on the mints website, these coins will be offered from here on out. The select few dealers who once had the uncirculated bullion coin monopoly from the mint is now no longer! Will this have an impact on the normal uncirculated coins every year? Will the planchets be prepared differently as to have 3 AGE coins to get every year in all denominations! This we will see. I find it a very expensive adventure/venture for this series! With the 10th Ann of the APE coming this year I can see a APE set done up in Reverse Proof for all coins in the set!! Will this happen? Who knows..if it does it will be spectacular and as usual cost a fortune...keep watching what the year brings and how the evolution of the AGE, ASE and APE develop.:kewl: RickieB BTW.. I will post pics of the coins sometime later today.
According to the NN the latest sales figures are 14,713 $5 coins before sellout. But it looks like the set should be sold out at around 5000 sets so the total numbers should be around 15,500 coins. For the 4 coin totals it looks like 1 ounce is at around 38,000 [includes two anniversary sets] the half ounce is about 8400 1/4 ounce about 9300 1/10 ounce 15,500 Also the mint website says the 2007 UNC will be available for order in March/April so the sales could be a lot higher if they let them sell all year long. The 2007 gold proofs come out in Feb already, those will probably be high mintage as well. Don't see the date for the Platinum proof, the silver come out in March. Maybe the Platinum proof this year have a tiny mintage if they come out real late. ******************** Also like you say it will be interesting to see how the new UNC affect sales in the coming years. The buffalo should have an impact on the gold sales of the eagles too, so the gold get hit from two sides.
thanks to you guys/gals I made the call and ordered the 4 pc. gold uncirculated set this morning . informaton i received was they were all but sold out. If gold makes any kind of break out, I can sell the one ounce as i already have one in the 20th anniversary set. guess what i will be left with then lol dang ... Boston college looks like they are going to score.... gotta go Hey how much gold is actually in the $5
Hey Bama guy.. The gold content in all AGE is exactly what the coin says..example 1/10th oz AGE has a cumulative metal content of 91.67% gold, 3% Silver and the balance copper for a total mass of 0.1091 troy ounces. The "91" is the silver and copper because gold is so soft.. Rickie B
According to that NN story looks like someone may have bought up a lot of the final 4 coin sets in the last week, the sales jumped from like 2300 to 4200 so it was a large order in the end. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the TV coin shows that did it.
thought about it later and kind of came up with that figure. I sure appreciate your post to let me know. so the 4 coin set should have 1.80 ounces of gold. . Just hope the mint is not playing a numbers game after i talked myself into getting this set. lol Did order it early saturday morning and was told they were still available. Of course everyone knows the mint would never lie.
I am pretty sure it is 1.85 oz of Gold...in a 4 coin set 1 oz .50 oz .25 oz .10 oz _______ 1.85 oz RickieB
dang that is the first number i had and changed it lol. The $10 would it not be 1/5 of an ounce thus .20 ounces, the rest seems to fall in place. thought it was .25 at first and may still be wrong. No big deal either way
gold unc set i expect 4 pc set will be sold out by early next week. and see the set price jump about 100% fro this set. individual coins: near future. one ounce = $1,080.00 + half ounce = $ 800.00 to $1,500.00 quarter ounce = $ 400.00 to $800.00 1/10th ounce = $ very very high........

looked it up and you were correct. Is .25 ounces in the $10. Numbers just do not quite add up to me (scratches...uh head ) but I will take the extra .05 ounce of gold. dd: Becky, it should be interesting and hopefully I will get mine. Since the smaller denomination sold out earlier, just hope the mint held some back to fill the 4 set orders, Hate to say it but the mint folks kind of scare me. thanks for the stats becky was wondering where you were getting all your good information. nice of you to share
