If it's a 2006 ASE business strike and it has the W mint mark, then yes it is burnished. As for whether or not it is worth it to join NGC, only you can decide that.

    What is meant by burnished?

What are the pros and cons???

Sorry to sound like a knuckle head, but I've not heard of this term before when it comes to coins...

I've heard of Uncirculated,Proofs and Reverse Proofs...

Also, just checking my facts, but Isin't a UNC, just a business strike thats not been circulated?

hence the name.. :) or is it actually an additional strike beyone the three I mentioned?

In simple terms it means polished.

Pros and cons in regard to what ? There aren't any really, it's just a different process that the coins go through. This is what it says on the mint's web site - Click Here

You have it right, there are 3 basic types. The mint uses the term Unc instead of business strike because in the case of the American Eagle coins business strike is a misnomer since the coins don't actually circulate. But since Unc is a term which describes a condition, I think it is misleading as well. The terms business strike and Proof describe a method of manufacture, not a condition. So I think those terms are actually more accurate and less confusing, which is why I use them.

    Sorry, but what denomination?
Can I assume that you meant a silver eagle?

I tried to send you back an email---but it wouldn't send....the info that I was sending has already been posted in this thread so I don't see any need to re-send the email at this time.
    Have a great day
