Hey all I was thinking of buying a 2006 US Buffalo Proof. What should be the right price for it and which are the good online places to buy that from. Any look outs on this coin? Do let me know..
If you are looking for a top tier graded coin then I recommend Teletrade. It is free to get registered and you can search their price guide to find the proper price. There were 300,000 gold proofs minted in 2006 and there are only 200,000 slated to mint this year but the mint may raise that number if there is a huge demand which I doubt. I would recommend the 2007 proof from the US Mint at $825 US. There may be a 2008 but I doubt that also.
I've seen 'em go for as low as $720 on e-bay. More common is $750-ish... MS tend to sell for less than proofs. Gold spot closed at $654.50 on Friday, so these prices are running about 15% over bullion.
Not that I can afford either a Proof or Unc gold $50, but I just read maybe in Coin World or another coin mag that they are going for about the issue price.

The '06 buffalo in proof or ms is a beautiful coin no doubt. Think they made just a few to many. Then again one can get them at a good price if you shop around.
