My Uncle has this $10 bill that I'd like someone's opinion on. I mostly deal with coins so I'm not sure about bills. Any help would be appreciated. The front of the bill has the ink misaligned with the perimeter. I know it looks like its been torn off or cut but the back side shows the bill correctly aligned as it should. Any thoughts?
If it was a misaligned cut shouldn't the back of the bill show some signs of missing paper also similar to the top margin of the front,I think this was done on purpose and didn't happen during the process. Those inc spots appear to be the remains of a teller stamp as the dots are in a similar spot where the straps should be placed.
In a perfect world, the upper and lower margins on the front and back of the note should be fairly even. Both the front and back of the note have a larger lower margin and the top of the note appears to maybe have been trimmed. Have you compared the size of this note with a similar $10 note ?
Adding to Steve's answer, the ink marks are just the teller's stamp overprint from the bank band. It either case, your $10 note is worth $10.
