I was looking at one of my 2006 w.w.j. nickel mint sets and I noticed that the "CA" at the end of America is well....messed up. I can't find any pictures of errors that matches what this could be. I checked my other two proof sets for this year (I have three sets) and all the letters in every word is perfect as should be in a proof coin. I'd like to hear some thoughts, opinions, info, anything that can help out is appreciated greatly. Thank you. Can post more pics if needed, It's hard bc it's just sooo reflective.
It looks like damage to me, but maybe a strike through? I'd want to see sharp, close-up pictures of the area before saying for sure.
What do u think the damage could be from, it's in a mint proof clear hard case. I don't know how they package them but it's not circulated. And it's definitely a proof. Do the coins get tossed around before they get encased maybe?
It's hard to get super close to it bc of the case and how reflective it is. I don't have the best camera
Today I brought this Coin to the local coin dealer. He stated that it's a really interesting, that it is indeed a mint error. I did not ask him to give an estimated value. He said a great find!
