Ok.. am I missing something on this coin? Are they really hot right now and I am just out of the loop? I bought 3 (NGC PR69) yesterday for $150 each (Bid is $165.00). I listed them on Ebay for $200.00 each today and all 3 sold in less than 5 hours. Are they really selling that well or was I just lucky?
Don't think you made that big of a profit yet! You made $600. Now take off the $450 spent on the coins, bringing you down to $150 profit. Now knock off about $25 for each coin for eBay and Paypal charges, bringing you down to about $75. Then you have to insure the items and mail them, taking off another $15, bringing you down to an about $60 profit.
A profit is a profit, don't care too much about that. I was just shocked that they sold so fast at that price.
This coin has been up and down but I believe it has nice long-term potential due to being the only ASE reverse proof and the limited mintage (250K). It is a beautiful coin and many others think so as well. TC
I guess I'm just getting crotchety in my old age, but I don't really care that much for the reverse proof. I had four of the 20th Anniversary sets. Before I was aware that I had to submit them to NGC in the original shipping box for the anniversary designation (on all three coins) I had opened the first order. The second order, I submitted for grading. I ended up selling all four sets for a substantial profit primarily because I didn't like the look of the reverse proof. Chris
Finally someone else who doesn't like them! Everyone keeps going on about how beautiful they are and I think they are downright ugly. I wouldn't pay more than bullion for one of them, and I'd try and get rid of it as soon as possible. Ugh.
I've been watching them over the past year. I sniped one on ebay earlier this year for $154 shipped. I decided to sell it for $180 to get something else but I'm thinking about getting one again. The reason they sell for $200 is because there are a lot of people with no patience who are willing to pay that for a PF69. They don't want to fool around and wait to try to save $40-$50+. It isn't worth their time apparently. It does seem to be pretty hot but prices haven't changed all that much in the past year. It looks like you can still take your time and pick one up for $150- $160 without much effort. I think there are more people willing to pay $200 for them now though. That will probably be the bottom for them. I could see them going up with a relatively low mintage and high popularity. I think they're beautiful.
