2006-P Chunks missing out of coins

    I realize this is a bad scan, I wish I could do better. I just received my 2006 Jefferson nickels but was wondering if anyone could explain the chunks taken out of the obverse. The one coin I don't have with me has half the date and big chunks of his face gone.

    Wierd..

    Looks like a heavily greased die to me - I've seen lots lately on state quarters and new nickels.
