1/18/06. This is the date they were rolled and boxed, not the date they were minted. I believe most of these mints started after the X-mas holiday. Mine.. for supposed first strike (I opened one box to give to work associates and friends) were primarily at best MS63-MS65 (I'd say most were 64's rife with bag marks, and not exactly collector quality). I found 2 -D's and 0 -P's that I would consider to be of higher grade, and both of these two take up the place of honor. On the good side.. I had quite a few that lived up to 6 Full Steps, but even then.. lots of bag marks.
How many Coin Talk ppl bought the whole run?Are any of them up in price or are the basically worth $2 a roll?
I received my Jeff Rolls mint order of three sets last Sat 4, Feb. I didn't open any of them and just put them away with the other rolls I have from the series. I wish my sons would get interested in collecting something beside empty beer bottles. Oh well, I was no different when I was their age except I was collecting coins.
You almost have the full run. I bought 50 of each of the 2004s and 2005s I only bought 10 of the 2006s but to make sure I had the whole run...I bought 10 of the 2003s!!!
Even though they aren't part of the Westward Journey series,I wish I HAD purchased some 2003's and certainly plan to get 2007's,just to bookend the series.
2007's will be the same as 2006's. The new design will be used indefinitely, until they re-design it. It is basically semi-permanent. Also as far as I know, quarters in 2009 will return to the design they had in 1998, unless any efforts to redesign them are passed before then.
My Mint rolls are 01/27/06. I have several rolls of 2003 P&D, 2004 P&D,( both types), 2005 P&D,( both types), and the 2006 P&D.
Full Run of MW Nickels!! I have 10 sets each of the '03-'04PM & '04 KB-'05 Ocean's BUT like an idiot I jumped on the '05 Bisons and bought 125 sets. I thought the Buffalo would be a big draw, because of the old Indian's BUT was I wrong! My '06 sets are dated 1-27-06 The word out is the mint will bombard the nation with these!! EVER NOTICE HOW MANY EBAY SELLERS MISSPELL NICKEL!!!!
I'm just waiting on my 2006's and I'll have the whole run. Did buy a roll of 2006's from a dealer who got a whole bag. I was unimpressed with the strike. Just didn't look very good to me. Paid a little over face ($3) but they were going out to friends in Europe.
I just received a few rolls from mint... didn't check date or time... and opened 1 box, one roll each of p and d and these have to be some of the worst minted coins I have ever seen. Many look like molten surface, very uneven. There were 2 nice p's and 2 nice d's and that was it. Looks like many had small die cracks on reverse to left of Monticello. Anyone else see similar coins???? Darryl
I didn't really mention this in my post, but i'd say about 10% of each roll had nickels with chunks taken out of the obverse (die grease?) One particular one that I gave to a work associate did not have a complete 2006 (probably should have kept it.. but i'm not an ugly nickel collector )
if I WERE GOING TO BUY ANY WESTWARD NIKELS IT WOULD BE THE PROOF ONES;BUT THATS JUST ME. THE MINT PUT OUT ALMOST A BILLION OF THE BISON NICKELS,LESS OF THE OCEAN IN VIEW.
how many versions of the new nickels are there? I have one with two hands holding each other, and another with a buffalo.

nickel in rolls which one should i buy?. from the u.s. mint?. or from the dealers?. from the dealers have two kind of coin wrapped. one is bank machine wrapped. maybe originally wrapped by federal reserve bank. the other one is hand wrapped by dealer. dealer bought in large quantity of coins in bags and wrapped it by themself. are those three type of wrapping have different in pricing?.
