    Greetings,

I have a 2006 nebraska quarter that is the correct color on the "tails" side, but the heads side feels almost waxy and appears to be almost dull gold (for lack of a better color name). Is this normal? Is this a "clad" error? I will try to post photos tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Rosalie

What does that mean? From Brooklyn too, but not so hip to the coin lingo... :)

Do you mean that the photo should be taken with a different lens? Tis the only lens I got. lol

I think he wanted you to use the macro setting on your camera if it has one. The symbol looks like a flower, like a tulip.

We don't have flowers like that on ZECTAS tulips .We have a flower called a bluapflo and it doesn;t look like a clad layer missing quarter wrong apperance and color doesn;t have the copper look at all. I would think you quarter was left on the surface of the ground for a long period of time the enviorment got to it.Show the reverse if you can

Weight would be an important consideration. What does it weigh? If the weight is normal then it is basicly a discolored coin. If it is significantly low then it is almost certainly a missing before strike clad layer.

Looks like someone may have heated that coin (maybe over a stove top) I've noticed you get that kind of waxy feeling when you do that.

Not sure what the weight is. I need to get over to a coin dealer possibly over the weekend. What should it weigh? thx. Ro

Wouldn't the other side be affected? The other side looks fine. Ro

Don't think that it is due to environment. The other side is perfectly fine, and the head side is quite smooth. Not sure though.

You know artistically that is very nice. I would like to see that in the hand.
That is nicer than the coin.

Could it be one of the gold plated quarters?

? The pic I posted of the front is pretty accurate as far as color is concerned. The coin is also quite matte as shown in the pic. As for the back of the coin, just looks pretty ordinary to me. Any suggestions in the
Staten Island area where I can take this coin or maybe Brooklyn? Thanx.

Sorry Rosalie but I'd rather hear what it weighs first. I know what a missing clad layer should weigh but I worry sometimes when I ask for a weight on something where it is critical that the person may "fudge" the result. I will say that a normal quarter should weigh 5.67 grams +/- .23 grams.

    Weight...

I do not have access to a gram scale. Do you think any dealer will be willing to weigh it for me? thx, ro
