Why doesn't the bubble error that runs across the whole penny, run across Lincoln's face? Must have happened before the die was struck.
Push down gently on them with a toothpick. I suspect they are just gas bubbles, if so they will give under light pressure. Richard
It happens that more metal is used to strike up the face. The plating is stretched more so a bubble is not formed as easily as in the fields of the coin. Thanks, Bill
