Has anyone heard or seen anything on what exactly the new designs will be on the coin next year. I heard they were changing, but didn't hear what they were changing too. Any help?
Hello Old Dan...one thing is for sure...since I collect this series I will be trying to keep an open ear on events concerning these changes. Thanks for posting this thread! RickieB
I'm still debating on whether to get a 2005 1oz. (or maybe just sink the $ into an older double eagle 1895-ish).
I wish I had the money for the gold eagles.... but I guess I'll have to wait until I get a job... and pay off my loans!
I have a deal worked out with my wife. Whenever i buy a gold coin for collecting, i buy the same size eagle for investing. She doesn't understand why i would pay $200+ for a gold coin the size of dime when a 1/10th eagle is $50.00.
I don't think it's the Eagles that are changing. I think there is to be a new coin that is to be .99 proof and will be expensive. If they touch by ASE I will release my cat upon their undefended toes!! GlacierMI
Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the comments you made and hope that if anyone hears of anything along these lines, he lets all of us in on it. Thanks again.
i second that. i have read a few things. here is an older article. here is another. from what i gather, the old series will remain unchanged with the introduction of the new series. no details as of yet on the desgins as far as i know. hope that helps.
Yes Dan - there is supposed to be a new design for the .999 gold eagles. But what that design is to be has not yet been released to my knowledge. Test strikes were made and the CCAC met and discussed the designs back on April 28th. But that's about I can tell you.
