I recently came across this dime in a bank roll. I'm not sure what to make of it. Does anyone on here have an inkling? Feel free to ask me questions or request better pictures if necessary.
    Thank you folks in advance!!

Somebody with to much time on their hands is my guess.

That piece in the center appears to have the same sheen on it as the rest of the dime. Would that imply it was presenting during the crafting process?
Is there and part of the casting machine that looks like that center piece?
I was getting excited, it is just a mutilated dime?
There is no discoloration, no sodder, and no other deformaty what so ever.

What does the other side look like?

It looks 100%normal. You would never know that protrusion was on the back.

    Well shucks.
I do appreciate your time Steven.
If I really wanted to get to the bottom of this, where would be a good place to start? This is the first query I've put out.

I just google and see where it leads. Forget that link. It wasn't what I thought

That is the kind of explanation I was initially expecting, some kind of craft project.
    That makes sense!
But the dime would have heating marks and discoloration if put through this process, right?

    I tried that first.....
    Stumped.
I wish I could watch an in depth video on how dimes are made. I couldn't find one.

I think someone made a snap out it.

It would. Does it look glued on?

That is a pretty darn good lead. Though this rivet is much smaller and looks to be identically matching the dime alloy, its still the same basic concept I suppose.
I'll consider this the best explanation for now. Thank you Steven!

If the snap was on the coin when minted the dies would have smashed it into the planchet , IMHO it's someone with too much time and some glue .

    Damaged coin...not a mint error.
