2006-D ND 25c - What is up with the mint mark?

I do not see a listing for a DDO (or DDR for that matter) for the 2006-D ND 25c coin. Is the mint mark just a MD of fairly significant proportion?

It is my understanding that at this point in the die making process the mint mark is now part of the design and not hand punched. So they no longer repunch the mint mark, correct?

    Thanks!

Thanks Sensible... I saw that diagram in another post. I figured it was an MD, so no surprise... Just thought I'd ask, as it seems to be a fairly prominent shift, so to speak.

That diagram, as incorrect as it is, has been around for years, and is a perfect example of someone who has no knowledge of mechanical drawing.

I don't need to show you a diagram. What does the term "flat and shelf-like" mean to you? The diagram in the upper left does not portray machine doubling because it is not "flat and shelf-like". The curved lines between the step and the riser should be squared off to represent "flat and shelf-like".
