Looks like that 2006-W gold eagle set is going to create quite a bottleneck in the gold UNC series. The wild card is the 1999-W coins and how many of those were minted for the $5 and $10. However the price for the 1991 $25 is considerably higher in the series due to the mintage of 25,000, and this year they only did about 9000 of that coin so if things come out like they seem this one will be worth a lot more than that coin. So based on that I can't believe the set isn't sold out and done by now based on the comparisons to earlier years. The 1/2 ounce is probably worth the price of the whole set already assuming it grades 69 or higher.. BTW I see the mint already has 2007 bullion sales up on the site for the gold eagles.
The actual mintage of the 1991 1/2 oz AGE is 24,100 coins. The 1999"W" error 1/10 and 1/4 oz AGE's have an unknown mintage. If you look at PCGS and NGC certified coins for that error it will give you a best guess on the mintage since it is a rather well known error! Having collected the AGE series for 20 yrs I am proud to say that I have them all in Uncirculated and 1/2 way done with the proofs in Gold. I have finished the 1/10 th oz Platinum series in both proof and uncirculated including the 2006 "W" uncirculated just released (I plan on posting the set later this week). The 3 coin Gold and Silver Anniversary sets are in the safe as well, 1 gold set and 2 silver sets. I just received 10 of the 20 $1 ASE "W" uncirculated today..these are going up in value as well. Cheers to those of you who have assembled the eagles..what a set it will be as the years go by! RickieB

Is there a short thread that tells why these are not available (or why the mintages are numbers like 7,569)? Also unless I'm mistaken, it would be good to get the $50.00-W AGE or just the 4 coin set, as it has everything.
you are right. yes, you are right about this. get the set. i just received my two sets . it contained a nice big box for the set and coa. but without pouch on each coin. it is beautiful in deed.
Help me understand the production totals posted in this thread for the 2006-W UNC AGEs. Focusing on the 2006-W $50 Eagle; the mint has already produced 30,000 (20,000 in the 2 piece silver and gold set, and 10,000 in the 3 piece gold set). Are we saying there are only 7,883 remaining for Individual and 4 Coins set puchases? I find it hard to believe. Can you provide a link to support teh totals quoted? Thanks
The figures quote how many have minted. the 10k plus the 20k as you mentioned in the sets. Afterward the mint released the one ounce $50 as singles. Not sure the exact totals are out there but the 37,883 is how many they have made in the sold including the sets and the single issue. still available means they have not sold out yet and you can order one if you like. now this if for the one ounce and the sets only thing is the mint issued these things so late in the year, there numbers seem to be very limited especially in the lower denomination the information on mintage figures is being graciously supplied by member who subscribe to some of the leading coin(sorry could not spell numismatic) publications anyone feel free to correct me if inaccurate
I just read that the 4 coin set AGE 2006W UNC is still selling and has sold over 6500 sets. There are a lot more sets apparently than anyone figured and it may be as high as 12,000 sets. If it is 12,000 sets then the total mintages of these coins is much higher like this- 1 OZ 47,000 1/2 OZ 15,400 1/4 OZ 16,300 1/10 OZ 22,500
is this the 4 pc set AGE that you are talking about,if so when did you place your order if you don't mind me asking, thanks
Just think, lot of people bought the smaller denominations because of their sacristy and some people bought the sets so they could get the smaller limited denominations and the mint keeps pumping them out. At this rate no one is going to get what they expect except the mint. Is it not wonderful
Isn't the minting of 2006 coins over? Is there a hard cut-off date for minting coins each year? How far in 2007 can they still mint 2006 coins, if at all?
