The normal (if there is such a thing) price seen in various publications in $8.40 to $8.60 each. Just wondering if anyone has broken ranks yet and started discounting these SAE's.
I just paid $10.50. Of course, if you're buying from "publications", you're probably also paying shipping.
I just bought my first roll of 2005 Silver Eagles from a local dealer here in Dallas for $165, or just a little over $8 each. And gave him cash to boot so no tax...I'm planning to buy more from this guy in the future, of course, unless silver shoots up.
I bought rolls last weekend, from my local dealer, at $8.60 per coin. I never order by mail or internet as the shipping charges kill you on these.
Two weeks there was a sales flyer in my Sunday newspaper that had a coupon from Littleton Coin company ..2005 Silver Eagles $8.95 ea,, Free shipping w/ a five coin limit (I think). I bought two one for my Silver Eagle collection and one for my Annual World Silver Collection (SE/Maple Leaf/Panda/Libertab/Britannia) I will add that I have not received them yet and I'm assuming they are not the reject coins !!! I think Littleton has a very longstanding reputation and wouldn't do an advertising campaign under that type of scenario.
They might have a long standing reputation but they DON"T offer coins at a reasonable price. Ever look at one of there catalogues, not the best deals in town.
I have bought SAE's from Littleton as low as $6.95 with no S&H! I always get 5 and hand them out as nice gifts. Sure I get put on the mailing list and their normal coins are super high, but it is a nice try at using the SAE's as a lost leader, and then making it up on their normal stock. They just don't make it up on me, but I am sure they do elsewhere.
A longgggg time ago I bought about 1 1/2 rolls of silver eagles and never have bothered with any more...I buy one for my set and every-now-and -then I get one but rolls aren't for me.. Littleton is a rip-off!!! My dad got the sliver dollars from them for $6.00 and they were alright but when I got some state quarters from them they weren't what they should have been. Speedy
I only have one complaint about Littleton, and it's probably my own fault for not reading the fine print. I ordered some coins. They arrived, and along with them were other coins which you could keep and pay for, or go through the hassle of shipping back. Come to think of it, they also weren't able to fill my complete order in the first place. So, I guess I have two complaints. Doesn't really matter in that I don't but coins that way anymore.
Yup, I started to buy a couple coins from a Littleton magazine ad one time, and then in the fine print I read that you were signing up to get coins every month on approval. To circumvent that I went to their web site to get the same couple coins, where I didn't see any reference to getting coins monthly on approval. Sure enough, a few weeks later here came a few SAEs on approval at $18 apiece. I sent them back with a letter telling them not to send me anything more on approval, and they haven't. They have a fantastic catalog, but their prices seem to be about 80% high.
In early Jan. I paid $10 or so for a couple SAEs, then I did the Littleton thing for 5 more at 8.95. Littleton claims that is the price they pay, which seems unrealistic, but it is still lower than my local (45 minutes away) dealer. This is the one offer from Littleton that I think is worthwhile. It is easy to take advantage of, and thanks the them I have five or so of almost every year of the SAEs (including the 96). As for the approvals, I think the first round comes with a postage-paid envelope, so just mail it back with “cancel” written on the bill. Couldn’t be easier. As a matter of fact, this recent shipment did not even come with approvals. I guess they know the routine when it comes to me.
