I finally was able to take a picture through the plastic and get a dent at the 6 o'clock position to show up. Not an easy task. It actually runs between the "E" and the "N" but the picture isn't real impressive and may not show it. Would this kind of proof error be worth much? I have a second set with a much smaller dent but it is in the exact same spot on the Bison coin as the larger dent. Something must have gotten stuck on the die and enough of it was left over to make a mark on the next coin as well. Opinions?
It appears to be a strike through error. On Proof coins these are not common. But when it comes to establishing a value - the fact that they are uncommon just makes it harder to do. In order to establish a value a coin has to be common enough that several have been sold. With ultra rare coins, varieties or error coins such as this one - none have been sold. So value is an open question. Such a coin might sell for $5 or, to the right collector, it might sell for $50. There is simply no way to tell for sure.
