I ordered 2 boxes of pennies from my bank, and I opened them up and woosh! I'm blinded by the reflection from rolls of brand new pennies! It is worth searching them, and if so, what for?
Yes,If you have the patience LOL. I would go ahead and do it because you could possibly find some nice errors. :thumb: B12
I hear that there are some DD that NGC graded...but that is all I've heard... It seems like this year the mint decided to let us get more of the cents in new rolls...I also got a box of 2005 cents...I didn't order them but the bank just got them.... Maybe next year they will let us get dimes... Speedy
I was thinking about that... I had a few rolls of nickels (2000 and 1999) up for sale in the open advertising forums. They didn't sell, so I thought I'd search through them for errors. I found a common error in the 2000 nickels. It looks like a flame of fire is shooting up from the right side of monticello. I found 5 total of that error in 3 rolls. One of those errors had a die crack in the letters "ICA" in America. I don't know much about errors, and can't take close up pictures, so I just set them aside hoping some day I could be able to take close-ups.
They mint BILLIONS of cents every year and yes, they are nice and brilliant when you first see them. Now, if you are lucky to find those in MS68 grades or higher where they can get certified by the likes of PCGS or NGC, now you have something. But don't count on it. Both of these TPG's are pretty tough on moderns and those grades coming right out of bank rolls are very rare. As for errors and such, they are more rare than ever before. This is because the mint replaced their old presses with modern ones in the mid 90's. Consequently, finding any doubling or RPM's are more rarer than years passed.
