There's some glare that's making it tough to tell, but my opinion would be some mechanical doubling. Keep up the hunt!
Sure looks like doubling, but hard to tell from the pic. Can you take a macro close up pic of the doubled area?
With the second picture I am now unsure. It may be die doubling but I just can't quite tell. There certainly is something going on.
Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks interesting. The volcano is where a lot of the doubling has occurred on the 2005 Oregon quarters, but all the ones I've seen are more minor than this.
Is this a P, D, or S mint? There is only one on Wexler's site that shows doubling along the right slope of the volcano. It is a San Francisco clad proof. It appears to be very mild compared to this, if it is hub doubling. Very interesting, indeed. I can't wait to see what some others think also. I'm not far enough along to make a call on this one.
From the last set of pics, Wizard Island looks like MD, very wide flat shelf for the first (bottom) image, especially the top 2/3 of Wizard. If it were a DD, the first image should look exactly like the image on top of it (i.e. the same design, shape and rounded edge). Sorry, JMO
My opinion when I first seen it was MD but the more u look at it , it keeps looking less MD and more DD but I'm no expert on errors I'm just geeting started
Well, there’s nothing like seeing it in hand. If you think you have a DD send it off for certification and let us know how it turns out.
