I recently received my 2005 mint uncirculated set upon opening it I noticed that not only the California quarter was in backwards, but I also had two Minnesota state quarters and no Oregon quarter. this is only in the "P" set. Being new to coin collecting I havent found any information on this type of thing. I tried to call the mint and ask them if this some times happens and all I got for an answer was no and I should send it back for a different set. any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This apparently is happening a lot. Your set makes the third I have heard of so far and they have only been out a week.

Does it happen a lot - no. Does it happen - yes. The sets are packaged by a machine and mistakes do happen. Sometimes the mistakes get caught by quality control - sometimes they don't.

The choice is yours to keep the set or not. If you return it the mint will send you a new one. Hopefully pakaged correctly.

They offered to replace my Proof set error too...I declined.

Thanks for the help. Does the fact that it is packaged wrong make it more valuable?

No it does not. But if you should happen to find a collector of sets, they might be willing to pay a dollar or two more than the going rate.

    I'd keep it...for $17
