I found this in the former Ken's Coins of Kalamazoo, Now CC's Coins All stock was purchased with the shop. I was wondering if anyone remembers this article from Coin World June 27,2005 and what if any the error was called so I can figure how to label it? Possible value? Thought it was pretty cool addition. Thank You Stewart
Hi, A few things to be said. The coin exhibits clash marks. That is not that uncommon. It is and should be labeled as a "Clashed Die Error" The fact that a coin ends up in "Collector's Clearinghouse" doesn't imply a value greater than any other coin like this. A clashed die error of this type is a minor, very minor error. (Not to be confused with some incredibly strong clashed die errors) This coin is worth no more than $2.00, if you sell the article with it Thanks, Bill PS: I remember the article pretty well
Bill, Thank You for the information, I did not remember this article from Coin World I did not think it was worth more than a buck or two, The main thing was I did not know if it had been given a colorful name like some other minor varieties, like speared buffalo or spitting buffalo. Some of the names can end up being more interesting than the variety itself. I thought it was a nice teaching specimen being attached to the article like that .It can be passed around with a loupe when discussing how clashed dies happen and there affects on the coin itself. And being from the coin shop that was involved with the article was a neat little footnote. Thanks Stewart
Hi Stewart, It does make an interesting display and a fun teaching tool while it is connected to the article. Have Fun, Bill
